About the Class

This is much more than a typical two-day CSM class.

It is a 3-day course in Agile Fundamentals from one of the creators of the Agile movement, author of three Jolt-winning books, co-founder of the International Consortium for Agile.

Attend this course to understand what is agile and what isn’t agile development; to develop a feeling for how teamwork, communication, frequent customer interaction and frequent delivery affect your project; to understand Scrum and the role of the ScrumMaster; to gather a few techniques to take home and use immediately.

This course is registered with the International Consortium for Agile, the ScrumAlliance and the Project Management Institute. You will leave with the ICAgile Associate certificate from the International Consortium for Agile, enabled to take the ScrumMaster assessment and get your Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certificate from the Scrum Alliance, and able to claim PDUs from the Project Management Institute.

This workshop is based on the award-winning books Agile Software Development, on Crystal Clear: A Human-Powered Methodology for Small Teams, and Managing Projects with Scrum.

The first part of the course sets out Scrum and the role of the ScrumMaster; the second gives the attendee a gut feeling for the is and the isn’t and the theory of agile development the 7 Properties of Highly Successful Projects; the third introduces key useful techniques for product overview and planning, Jeff Patton’s story mapping technique and the blitz planning technique.

Each part introduces its concepts with small lecture, followed by team activities to anchor them. The activities are constructed to give attendees a sense for how it feels to be doing some of the key practices as well as what how it feels not to do them. The techniques reviewed are valuable in carrying out any kind of project, not only agile ones.
